Certainly one of the most praised thrillers by South Koreans, “Catching Fire” has won awards at several festivals around the world, with special mention for critical recognition at the Cannes Film Festival.

The film, directed by Lee Chang-dong, tells the story of Jong-su, a young man who dreams of being a writer and lives alone until he meets Hae-mi, an old childhood friend.
Through her, he meets an enigmatic and wealthy individual, who has a hidden passion.
As the bond between the three evolves, Jong-su becomes suspicious of his new companion, especially after Hae-mi's departure.
The plot addresses social disparity and ponders the lives of young South Koreans.

Taxi Driver (2017)
Primarily inspired by real events, “The Taxi Driver's Journey” tells the story of taxi driver Kim Man-Seob (Song KangHo), who struggles to provide for his son by actively participating in the events of the Gwangju Uprising.
With a length of 2 hours, the film is a work that is worth every minute.
It is no wonder that it won 16 awards at various ceremonies, including Best Feature Film at the Buil Film Awards and the Grand Bell Awards, as well as the Best Cinematography award at the Asian World Film Festival.

The Villainess (2016)
Similarly directed by Jung Byung-gil, the film “The Villainess” tells the story of Sook-hee (played by Kim Ok-bin), a brutal assassin determined to avenge her father’s death.
With thrilling action sequences and impressive choreography, it's no surprise that it won Best Cinematography at the Grand Bell Award.
Additionally, it received a positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes with an approval rating of 85%.
